Stefan Wagener, PhD, CBSP
Scientific Director, Biosafety and Environment
Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health

Dr. Wagener is the Scientific Director for Biosafety & Environment at the Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He has recently been appointed as the Director of the Institute for Biorisk Management and Education (IBME) with the International Centre for Infectious Diseases (ICID).

Peter Klaptchuck and Randy Johnson from Ozonator Industries traveled to Winnipeg to meet with Dr. Wagener at the Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health. Given Dr. Wageners knowledge and background, he had a complete understanding of the technology, the test that we have conducted and the effects that ozone would have on bio-hazardous waste.

Given that Dr. Wagener is a federal employee, he indicated that he is unable to give an endorsement of any technology. He also indicated that every month their centre is inundated with requests to test technologies and it is the policy of the centre to not use new technologies on a demonstration basis.

The only concern that Dr. Wagener raised is that he indicated that he would like to see an additional ozone analyzer incorporated to continuously monitor the operating atmosphere to ozone leakage. As per his recommendation, this feature has been added.
