The NG-1000 is a piece of technology which is unique on a global scale. Its powerful shredders make quick work of bio-hazardous waste; everything from sharps to tissue. It is worth noting that the OZONATOR has already been approved within the United States for the treatment of anatomical and pathological waste. A screen or sizing tool is incorporated to make sure that all waste is finely shredded with the result being waste that is reduced by up to 90% in volume. Once the waste has been shredded and subjected to
a very high concentration of ozone, it is pushed into the storage bin. Once the waste has been shredded and subjected to a very high concentration of ozone, it is pushed into the storage bin. Once the waste is in the bin, the ozone continues to work its magic. The current design uses a 30 yard bin which means your facility also saves money by having the waste bin taken to the landfill for emptying less often. Additionally, because the ozone attacks anything biological or organic in the treatment process, you will find that there are no foul odors from decaying waste, a real plus for your workers and those who live near your facility.
But, what makes this piece of technology so amazing is that while it has a huge daily capacity; it can handle this capacity without producing any harmful emissions.
The OZONATOR doesn’t use dangerous and harmful chemicals and doesn’t rely on heat or steam to treat the waste; rather the OZONATOR employs ozone to treat the bio-hazardous waste. The ozone that the unit requires is generated on-board the unit. The ozone, which is highly corrosive, is used to treat the bio-hazardous waste and then any un-used ozone is converted back to harmless oxygen. Additionally, a myriad of energy efficiencies have been incorporated into the design of the technology to also make the unit the most cost-efficient way of dealing with bio-hazardous waste streams.
Putting together the science and technology involved in the OZONATOR NG-1000 was no small feat. The process began with lots and lots of research! Industrial research into the generation and control of ozone began as early as 1840 and ozone has been used for almost 100 years to help control bacteria in water. The challenge facing Ozonator Industries was how to quickly generate large amounts of ozone, control and contain the ozone while it is used, then how to safely destroy any of the unused ozone. To design a system that could do all this, we called upon research articles prepared by some of the major Colleges, Universities and scientific minds from around the globe. We consulted with experts in the fields of bio-technology and micro-biology. Once the science was confirmed, we began putting together a team of professionals and business partners to help bring his invention to life, through the development of a working proto-type then on to commercialization. The best of the best component suppliers were chosen for this piece of technology and we called upon experts from each component supplier who together helped us design a system in which all the components would work together in seamless harmony.
The incineration of one ton of medical waste today produces a ton of greenhouse gasses. That’s over 50 million tons annually. Additionally, according to Health Care Without Harm, 69% of all the deadly dioxins emitted into the atmosphere are directly related to the incineration of medical waste. Until now, there has been no way to safely dispose of this type of waste. The OZONATOR NG-1000 has zero emissions, therefore for every ton of waste that would normally have been incinerated, by using the NG-1000, a facility reduces its carbon footprint by one ton and it also eliminates the emission of any deadly dioxins normally associated with the processing of its bio-hazardous waste. Again, this is good for the facility, its workers and the community it operates in as well as a dream for your facilities public relations team.
Additionally, in that the OZONATOR NG-1000 is designed to be an immediate and on-site solution, it also eliminates the need for ancillary waste stream expenses such as special boxes, liners, handling, transportation, etc., further reducing a facilities overall environmental footprint.
From an operating cost perspective, the OZONATOR NG-1000 also shines. A myriad of energy efficient features included in the technology reduce the costs associated with treating the waste to mere pennies per pound. As well, ease of operation and operator safety was paramount in the design of this technology. It literally takes only minutes to learn how to run the unit and no longer are expensive, specialized equipment operators required.
The treatment chamber is double walled and smoke and water tested by our quality control team for leaks at the time of manufacturing. The unit’s ozone monitors and analyzers not only constantly monitor the ozone levels within the treatment chamber, but also monitor the ambient air around the unit to ensure that there are no leaks. In the unlikely case that an emergency shutdown is required, an ozone-destruct-unit destroys any ozone within the system and a powerful fan evacuates the oxygen through a roof vent.
The OZONATOR NG-1000 sports a number of other great features including data-logging which records information such as the weight of each load, which staff member processed it and where the load of waste came from within the facility. A huge industrial 17” waterproof LCD touch-screen workstation is used to operate the unit, and through remote telemetry, facility staff is able to monitor all the operating specifications in real time. This remote monitoring ability also allows Ozonator Industries to monitor operating parameters in order to monitor the machines performance, ensure that the facility is using the technology in the most efficient way possible, and to provide software assistance should it be required.
The OZONATOR NG-1000 holds promise for medical facilities and communities around the globe. No longer do they need to be concerned that the handling of their bio-hazardous waste is harming their workers, their communities and their environments. No longer do they need to be concerned with the risk of rising costs demanded by the bio-hazardous waste service providers. The OZONATOR NG-1000 is an immediate, on-site, cost effective and environmentally way of dealing with your bio-hazardous waste. Through our leasing partner, facilities can set up a program that allows them to not only experience immediate cost savings, but also ensures them of long-term cost certainty with regard to the costs of treating their bio-hazardous waste stream.
In January of 2008, Ozonator Industries announced the sale of its first OZONATOR NG-1000 to the United States. This first NG-1000 unit was installed at Union Hospital in Terre Haute Indiana. Union Hospital now serves as a model of how a facility can take control and ownership of the issues associated with its bio-hazardous waste management and can turn what was an environmental concern into an opportunity for bottom-line cost-savings. Since installing their NG-1000, Union Hospital has experienced significant economic savings with regard to the costs associated with the handling of their bio-hazardous waste stream.
